Cambridge Arts Council Grant Recipients February 13,
2007 press release
Announcing the recipients,
Mayor Kenneth E. Reeves lauded the vitality of
the Cambridge cultural community, saying:
There is no place
like Cambridge for the Arts. Whether you encounter the
dance distractions of Dance Month, or thrill to the
talents of the members who make up the Cambridge
Symphony Orchestra…the arts express the unique character
of this community.
Ms.
Woods’ travels have taken her to Oregon
where she joined the Grande Rhonde Symphony
for the West Coast premier of Pulitzer Prize
winner Ellen Taaffe Zwillich’s Upbeat.
The remainder of the program included
Elgar’s Cello Concerto and the Enigma
Variations. |
John Galigour, critic for the Sun Valley
News had this to say about the
performance:
Those
who attended the Grande Rhonde Symphony
Orchestra concert were treated to a dashing
musical performance. The first piece was
“Upbeat”… conducted by Cynthia Woods; the
outcome was dynamic and immersing. |
