Outreach and Community Involvement


  Ms. Woods is committed to the CSO’s tradition of outreach concerts. One of everyone’s favorites is the annual private concert held for the Perkins School for the Blind….


Below, Ms. Woods leads a performance of Tchaikovsky’s Pathetique Symphony for the CSO’s annual outreach concert at the Hebrew Rehabilitation Center.  In addition to the seated audience the program is streamed live to the entire facility, thus providing the opportunity for all residents to enjoy the show regardless of mobility or health.


At the beginning of Ms. Woods tenure with the CSO she started a tradition of dedicating one concert per season to benefit a local non for profit… their 2010 partner was the Cambridge YWCA Shelter for Homeless Families

Ms. Woods currently serves on the faculty of the New England Conservatory as the conductor of the SRO Orchestra

Ms. Woods has also been an active orchestral educator for more than 15 years, acting as Music Director for several youth orchestra organizations as well as being a popular guest conductor for various Young Artist competitions and organizations such as Massachusetts Music Educators Districts and All State competitions.

Above, Woods leads a combined orchestra representing three colleges and one youth orchestra for the epic masterwork: Le Sacre du Printemps by Igor Stravinsky

While Artistic Director of the Worcester Youth Orchestras, Ms. Woods teamed up with the Boston Symphony Orchestra to create an educational partnership that lasted for the duration of her seven year tenure.  Above, BSO violist Marvin Moon joins a WYSO rehearsal to show young musicians how it’s done.  This unique mentoring program allowed the young performers to learn from some of the best in the world.

Three choirs join the Worcester Youth Symphony Orchestra lead by Woods for a gala performance of Orff’s, Carmina Burana

During Woods’ tenure as Artistic Director of the Worcester Youth Orchestras her top musicians were invited by State Senator Harriet Chandler for a special perfommance at the  State House
